St. Regis Chicago, originally the Wanda Vista Tower, is located at 363 E Wacker Dr, Chicago, Illinois. It is just south of the Chicago River in the New Eastlake neighborhood of the Near North Side community area of Chicago.
Magellan Development Group is behind this project, and it was designed by Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang with bKL Architecture as the Architect of Record.

The building has 101 stories and is 1196ft tall, making it the 3rd tallest building in Chicago and the 10th tallest in the United States at its completion. It has a mainly residential function with 393 condominiums that begin on the 13th floor and a 192-room hotel with a restaurant and several amenities serving both uses.
Its conception began in 2014, and construction started in 2016. The building is almost complete and although construction isn’t quite finished for the hotel, some of the condominiums are already being occupied.
I have decided to review this building because it is a sculptural architectural wonder that has added beauty to Chicago’s skyline and it claims to be responsive to its immediate community and the environment. Apart from its feat in height, I would like to explore what else it has achieved that contributes to its significance. I'm interested in everything else that makes the building what it is, how it moved from conception to construction, and how design decisions made have or will affect communities and the architectural world at wide. I would also like to investigate what ways it is generally a good or not so good precedent for future developments of its kind as it seems to have been an opportunity for exploration of great ideas and advancements in architecture.
